2021 Honorary Animix Creator – Itamar Daube

Animation/LIVE/Israeli animation/Israeli/Professional/18+

Itamar Daube, a senior illustrator in the caricature industry and Head of Illustration & Animation Program at Shenkar College, boasts an innovative, fresh and original illustration style. He excels with minimalistic illustrated interpretations, designs posters for theater productions and also serves as SVP Creative at U.S. children’s channel, Baby First. Daube has been accompanying Animix operations throughout the years, contributing to the production efforts in various ways, and yes – he is outrageously humble – he only agreed to sign his work a few years ago, after suffering from ages of shy anonymity. For all of these and more, he is awarded the title of 5781-5782 Honorary Animix Creator.

Itamar Daube: Milestones
For years, Itamar Daube, graduate of Bezalel, has been creating characters and illustrations for campaigns, developing games, animating series and illustrating newspapers. In 2010, he joined the staff of the Yedioth Ahronoth weekend edition, where he regularly accompanied the political column written by Sima Kadmon. He recently began publishing a political caricature of his own in the weekend edition. He began serving as SVP Creative at the Media First Baby First channel in 2006, a U.S. television channel for toddlers, aired in 33 countries and he continuously develops content for various platforms. Duabe is among the senior faculty members teaching visual communications at Shenkar, lecturing within the graduate program for designing and developing digital games. Since 2011, he has also been heading the Illustration and Animation curriculum for the Visual Communications Department.

The Face of the Nation
Daube’s Panorama, 2021 Honorary Animix Creator
Itamar Daube joined the staff of Yedioth Ahronoth’s weekend edition since 2010. Since then, he has been regularly accompanying the political column written by Sima Kadmon. During this session, the artist will present a selection of his illustrations, shed light on the work process with the writer and editors, reveal who is most difficult to draw as well as which of his illustrations were rejected. He will discuss when he realized that they might annoy people and how to cope with weekly deadlines within a chaotic and turbulent political reality.
